Zebari takes part in preparatory meeting for 25th Arab Summit in Kuwait

Baghdad (Forat) Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, chaired the delegation of the Republic of Iraq participating in the meeting of the Arab League Council at the preparatory ministerial level for the Arab summit in its regular session (25) in Kuwait.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by Alforat News Agency cited “During the session handover ceremony of the presidency of the State of Qatar and Chairman of the regular session (24) to the State of Kuwait, president of the current session took place, also they reviewed the agenda for the meeting, which included a number of draft resolutions related to the development and reform of the Arab League and the draft statute of the Court of the Arab Human Rights as well as the issue Palestinian and Arab-Israeli conflict and its innovation, in addition to the Syrian crisis and a series of draft resolutions submitted by the Economic and Social Council.”

“The Minister confirmed in his speech to make a priority to the fight against terrorism and extremism in addressing the joint cooperation for the eradication of this scourge, and reviewed Iraq’s position on the Syrian crisis and its dangerous repercussions to the security of Iraq and the region as well as exploring Iraq view for the development and reform of the Arab League,” the statement added.

“The Council also issued four decisions on the negative repercussions and dangerous consequences on Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan in addition to Egypt due to the crisis of displaced Syrians. The draft resolutions were submitted to the leaders for the purpose of approval at a meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of the summit on 25 March 2014,” the statement continued.

“The lineup delegation of the Republic of Iraq included the Undersecretary, Deputy Minister of Commerce, the head of the Arab department, Permanent Representative at the Arab League and Iraq’s ambassador to Kuwait,” the statement concluded.
