Family turns in bomber daughter to security forces near Baaquba
DIALA / IraqiNews.com: A family has turned its suicide bomber daughter to Iraqi security forces northeast of Baaquba city on Friday, an official security source in Diala said. “A person of the name Ali Salman has turned in his daughter Amina to the Iraqi army’s 5th Division, in the area of Shahraban of al-Muqdadiya district, (45 km) northeast of Baaquba, claiming that she was a suicide bomber who was planning to blow herself up inside a local souk (market) in the district,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Amina confessed that she was planning to wage a suicide bombing attack during the next few days,” the source added, not giving further details. Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad. Diala is one of the areas with the largest number of bombing attacks by female suicide bombers – 22 operations – particularly in Baaquba city. The district of Baladruz had been rocked by one of the deadliest attacks in the province in 2007, which was carried out by a woman wearing an explosive belt inside a Shiite mosque, leaving 80 people killed or wounded.
