Minister of Environment visits Diwaniya

Diwaniya (IraqiNews.com) The Governor of Diwaniya Ammar al-Madani discussed with the Minister of Environment Lazar Sirkon Slewa who visited the province on Monday the environmental situation in the province and the violations occurred on Dalmaj marshes.

A statement by Madani’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Both Madani and Slewa discussed the environmental situation in Diwaniya and the problem of the Dalmaj marshes which negatively affect the province.”

“Slewa appreciated the performance of the Department of Environment in Diwaniya and the cooperation of the local government of Diwaniya in the field of establishing the projects of the green yards in the province,” the statement added.

For his part, Diwaniya Governor Ammar al-Madani said “More than two thirds of the Dalmaj marshes are located inside the territories of Diwaniya and the remaining third is located inside Wasit territories but the Ministry of Water Resources state that the Marshes of Dalmaj should be controlled by Wasit authorities which negatively affects the economic situation in Diwaniya.”
