Mladenov condemns increasing violence related to election

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) UNAMI called the Iraqi sides to avoid violence and to ensure safety of elections candidates.

Nikolai Mladenov, Special Representative of the Secretary -General of the United Nations Mission in Iraq said in a statement received by Iraqi News “We denounce the increasing violence including the attack targeting an electoral slate gathering in Baghdad on last Friday.”

“We condole the families of the victims who were killed in these attacks that aim at preventing Iraqis from participating in the elections,” he added.

“The current stage is very crucial in determining the future of Iraq so that all authorities should exert their efforts to ensure safety and security for all Iraqis to practice their constitutional rights in voting,” he concluded.
