NAM conference adopts 2 resolutions on Iraq
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The 17th Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement adopted 2 positive resolutions on Iraq in the final document of the conference. The conference welcomed Iraq’s initiative of hosting the International Conference to Combat Terrorism in Baghdad, March 12-13, 2014, in order to promote and strengthen international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by IraqiNews.com cited “The Ministers also welcomed the progress made by the governments of Iraq and Kuwait to implement the relevant Security Council resolutions on outstanding issues between the two countries, encouraging the two parties to future cooperation.”
“A delegation of senior officials and delegates at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated in the preparatory meetings in New York and Algeria. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hoshyar Zebari, participated in the activities of the Ministerial Conference in Algeria as head of Iraq’s delegation after naming Iraq as Vice- Chairperson of the conference session on May 28,” the statement continued.
“Minister Zebari was accompanied by Head of International Organizations Department, Head of the Arab Department, and Iraq’s Ambassador to Algeria,” the statement concluded.
