10 people arrested in Kirkuk

Kirkuk-Wanted KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: Joint security forces arrested ten people on Tuesday during a security operation in southwestern Kirkuk, the local police chief said. “Iraqi security forces, backed by U.S. troops, managed to arrest ten wanted and suspected gunmen during a crackdown operation on Tuesday afternoon (April 7) in Dakmat, Tal Mahdi and 7 Nissan villages in al-Rahsad district in southwestern Kirkuk,” Brig. Sarhad Qader told IraqiNews.com news agency. “A dangerous wanted man, who belongs to Ansar al-Sunna armed group, was among the detainees,” he added. Jaish Ansar al-Sunna, or Army of the Followers of the Sunna is a militant group based in northern and central Iraq, and includes both Kurdish and Sunni Arab as well as foreign fighters. Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km northeast of Baghdad. SH (S)/SR 1
