Klose ties Ronaldo for all-time World Cup scoring record

Klose ties Ronaldo for all-time World Cup scoring record

Germany’s Mirsolav Klose scored his 15th career World Cup goal on Saturday against Ghana, tying him with Ronaldo for the all-time scoring record.

Trailing 2-1 in the 69th minute, Joachim Low subbed Klose in and within moments, he made history. Germany earned a corner, Toni Kroos curled it in and Benedikt Howedes flicked it for what looked like the Germans’ second goal. Klose lunged towards the goal mouth and tapped it in to remove any doubt, as he broke a tie with Germany’s Gerd Mueller and scored his 15th World Cup goal.

Germany tied Ghana 2-2, and will enter its third and final game against the US without having advanced just yet. A draw wasn’t awful from a US perspective, since a win tomorrow against Portugal advances Jurgen Klinsmann’s team to the knockout stages.
