(IraqiNews.om) On Wednesday, the leader of the State of Law Coalition, Abbas al-Bayati, dismissed the fears that ISIL was advancing toward Baghdad and said that government security forces were nearing the city of Mosul, an ISIL stronghold.

Al-Bayati said in an interview for IraqiNews.com that “There is a special security plan to secure the capital; Baghdad Operations Command renews these plans,” pointing out that “the Air Force also plays an active role in securing the capital.”

Al-Bayati added that “the scenario of the so-called ISIL advance to Baghdad has failed, if they had been able to do it, they wouldn’t have merely talked about it,” pointing out that “the security forces are now on the doors of the city of Mosul which lead to the liberation of Salahuddin province during the next few days.”
