Gunman arrested while planting explosive device in Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi army force on Wednesday arrested a gunman while he was planting an improvised explosive device (IED) in northern Mosul city, according to an army source. “A force from the 3 rd Brigade, Quick Intervention Corps (QIC) arrested a gunman while he was trying to plant an explosive device at al-Masaref intersection in northern Mosul city,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The force detonated the device at once,” the source explained. “During preliminary investigations, the man gave tips about an explosives cache inside a house in al-Tahrir neighborhood, eastern Mosul,” the source noted, adding that the house was raided and the explosives were confiscated. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. SS (P)/SR 1
