EU foreign policy chief, Barazani meet on European support

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: President of Iraq’s Kurdistan region Massoud al-Barazani is scheduled to meet today with the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, in Brussels to discuss European support for the Iraqi political process. “The two officials will discuss the current situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan region and the European role…,” a senior Kurdish official, Fouad Hussein, said in a press release received by IraqiNews.com news agency. The Kurdish Khabat newspaper, a mouthpiece of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) which is led by Barazani, said in its today’s issue that Barazani’s visit to Brussels as part of his European tour aims to garner international support for the Iraqi political process and to encourage foreign companies to invest in Iraq, particularly in the Kurdistan region. Barazani began his European tour on February 23, 2009, during which he visited Britain, Germany and Italy. SS (P)/SR 1
