VP voices Iraq’s readiness to help ICRC

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi expressed Iraq’s readiness to help the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in facilitating its mission and activities in the country, according to a statement released from his office in Baghdad on Wednesday. This came during a meeting between Abdul Mahdi and the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Jakob Kellenberger, said the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “ The Iraqi official asserted Iraq’s readiness to cooperate with the ICRC and facilitate its mission in Iraq,” the statement added. “ The ICRC is ready to activate and enlarge its work in the country and to open offices in central and southern Iraq,” Kellenberger said, noting that the ICRC has a special interest in the humanitarian condition in Iraq.
