Iraqi PM receives Syrian FM in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki Wednesday received Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Walid al-Moallem in Baghdad, according to the state-run al-Iraqia satellite channel. “Al-Maliki received the Syrian minister and discussed with him a number of issues of common interest,” the channel added. Al-Moallem started Wednesday (Mar. 25) an official visit to Iraq and was received at the Baghdad airport by his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari. Moallem’s last visit to Iraq was in November, 2006, during which he signed agreements on restoring diplomatic relations as well as forming joint security, economic and follow-up committees. SH (P) 1
