Syrian FM says ready to render Obama’s pullout plan success
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with the United States in its plan to withdraw combat forces from Iraq, saying that it will allow American troops to pass through Syria. The remark came during a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari in Baghdad today. “Syria is ready to offer necessary assistance for the implementation of U.S. President Barack Obama’s decision with regards to the departure of U.S. troops via Syrian territories,” Moualem added. A U.S. troop withdrawal that is scheduled to take place by late August 2010 was announced by Obama last month. SS (P)/SR 1
