Deputy premier, Syrian FM review oil, gas cooperation

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister Rafeaa al-Eissawi received at his office in Baghdad on Thursday Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem and discussed with him cooperation opportunities in the oil and gas fields, according to a statement from al-Eissawi’s office. “The meeting tackled means of activating relations on the economic and services level and boosting cooperation in oil and gas fields,” said the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The meeting also asserted the importance of intensifying political and diplomatic efforts between the two countries to support Iraq and to strengthen the recent security successes and the national reconciliation file,” it added. The Syrian minister arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday (Mar. 25) to hold talks with Iraqi officials on ways of fostering bilateral ties in various domains as well as exchanging opinions on regional and international developments.   SH (P)/SR       1
