Moqtada al-Sadr condemns undisclipled militias, terrorists and government delays as threats to peace

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Friday the Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr called to speed up the formation of a national government that avoids sectarian quotas, while stressing the need to unanimously reject all terrorist organizations, including the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.”

Sadr stressed, in a speech delivered on his behalf by an imam at Kufa mosque, Ali Talqani, about the need to accelerate the formation of a government of national partnership, move away from sectarianism, and wide acceptance of new ideas that can help Iraq succeed and ensure a decent life for Iraqi people. He stressed that delaying this will delay peace and lead to more suffering.

Sadr considered “the exclusion of Baathists and the terrorists from any national dialogue is a national necessity which cannot be waived,” warning at the same time that “the existence of undisciplined militias in Iraqi society is a threat to peace.”
