Germany may supply non-lethal military equipment to Iraq

(IraqiNews.com) The German Minister of Defense revealed that her government is considering the possibility of supplying military equipment to Iraq, such as armored vehicles or equipment to detect explosives, but does not include weapons; this issue created a sensation among German political parties.

The German Minister of Defense, Ursula von der Leyen announced, in a press statement followed by IraqiNews.com, that “The German government is considering the possibility of supplying military equipment to Iraq. These remarks came from the Minister who is belonging to the party of Chancellor Angela Merkel, Christian Democrats, after a meeting with the British counterpart Michelle Fallon in the German capital, Berlin.”

At the same time the German minister emphasized that “the supply of arms to Kurdish forces or the Iraqi government is not out of the question,” adding, “without this limit, we want to exploit all the available possibilities.”
