Obama’s visit violation of Iraq’s sovereignty – Sadrists

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Sadrist bloc on Wednesday condemned as “barefaced interference” in Iraq’s internal affairs the recent visit by U.S. President Barack Obama to the country and described it as a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty. “The visit made by President Obama is a barefaced interference and a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty, mainly after the recent dangerous security escalation in the country,” the Sadrist bloc said in a statement in Najaf received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The visit aims to extend the presence of U.S. forces in the country,” the statement added. Tomorrow (April 9) marks the sixth anniversary of U.S.-led invasion to Iraq to topple Saddam Hussein’s regime. Barack Obama had arrived in Baghdad on Tuesday (April 7) and met President Jalal Talabani, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani. SH (P) 1
