FM says Iraq likely to import Russian military equipment

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari on Saturday said that a military cooperation between Iraq and Russia that includes the purchase of Russian weapons is on the cards. “Cooperation may encompass training and the purchase of military equipment and weapons,” Zebari told Russian news agencies. Meanwhile, the president of the Russian Look Oil company said that Russian Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko will soon lead a government delegation to Baghdad to continue negotiations over an oilfield investment contract, which was signed between the company and the Iraqi Ministry of Oil in 1997.
