Gul: Iraq’s security problem still huge
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Sunday that the security situation in Iraq is improving day by day, but that the problem is still “huge.” “My recent visit to Iraq was paid for purposes of coordination with the Iraqi side regarding reconstruction,” Gul said in statements to CNN. Gul had arrived in Baghdad on March 23 on a state visit during which he met with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and other Iraqi officials. Gul’s visit is the first ever paid by a Turkish president in 33 years since the last one paid by President Fahri Korutürk in 1976. Korutürk (1903-1987) was a Turkish navy officer, diplomat and the sixth president of the republic of Turkey. AmR (P)/SR 1
