Rafsanjani says reconstructing Iraq necessary

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iran’s Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashimi Rafsanjani said that reconstructing Iraq is a necessary and urgent thing, noting the expand of cooperation between Iran and Iraq after the topple of the former regime.This came during his meeting with Kurdistan Region delegation headed by Kurdistan Region Vice President Kosrat Rasul Ali on Tuesday (April 14), according to Mehr news agency. Mr. Ali conveyed the greetings of Presidents Jalal Talabani and Massoud Barzani to Ayatollah Rafsanjani and an invitation by President Barzani to visit Kurdistan Region in the near future. During the meeting, they discussed the ways of enhancing the relations between Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The delegation emphasized that the Kurds will always work with their allies and friends to achieve the highest strategic interests of Iraq. Rafsanjani said that Iran will spare no efforts in establishing economic and commercial ties with Kurdistan Region and “we plan to inaugurate two branches of the Islamic Free University in Kurdistan region and the city of Karbala.” SH (S) 1
