Kurdish elections budget falls upon federal government – Adnan al-Mufti
ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Speaker of the Kurdish parliament, Adnan al-Mufti, said on Wednesday that the responsibility of allocating the budget of the Kurdish parliamentary elections falls upon the federal government. “The responsibility of allocating the Kurdish parliamentary elections budget rests upon the federal government because the 17% allocated to the region does not include the elections budget,” al-Mufti told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The Iraqi government should abide by its commitment to secure the financial amounts for Kurdistan’s elections as it did in the rest of Iraq’s provinces,” al-Mufti added. Iraq’s budget for 2009 is about 70 trillion Iraqi dinars, and %17 of this budget has been allocated to the Kurdistan region. SH (P) 1
