URGENT: Syrian opposition welcomes Obama’s speech, Damascus criticizes it

(IraqiNews.com) The National Coalition for the Forces of the Revolution and the Syrian Opposition welcomed today’s speech of US President Barack Obama, who announced the plan of four items to fight the organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, while the official Syrian news agency (SANA) attacked Obama’s speech, describing Washington’s policy as encouraging terrorism and disruptive to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

The Coalition of the Syrian opposition has urged Congress to approve on Obama’s policy against ISIS after authorized air strikes for the first time in Syria. The coalition chairman, Hadi Bahra said in a statement that the coalition is “ready to participate with the international community not only to defeat the Islamic state, but also to rid the Syrian people from the tyranny of the regime of Bashar al-Assad.”

The Coalition considered that the FSA can triumph over ISIS if it receives the necessary support, but it warned that the Assad regime is “the reason behind the spread of violence, barbarism and the absence of a sense of impunity in Syria.”

On the other hand, SANA agency said that United States policy is sponsoring of terrorism and obstructive to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria, pointing out that the American administration says on the one hand it wants a solution, on the other hand issued decisions to deliver arms and money to those who were described as terrorists, referring to the armed opposition in Syria.
