Registration for parliamentary polls in Kurdistan ends

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) in Iraq’s Kurdistan said 42 political blocs have registered for parliamentary elections, scheduled to take place in the region this year. “The registration process has ended,” the IHEC’s chairman, Ali Qadir, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The formation of political alliances among blocs will start today,” Qadir noted. About 2.5 million are expected to participate in the parliamentary polls, which were scheduled to take place on May 19, but were postponed for a few weeks due to technical reasons. SS (P) 1
