Basra governor seeks to turn province into economic capital
BASRA / IraqiNews.com: The new governor of Basra, Dr. Sheltagh Aboud Sherad, said after assuming office on Tuesday that he will seek to turn the southern province into the economic capital of Iraq. Speaking at a press conference after receiving his mission on Tuesday (April 28), succeeding Musbeh al-Waeli, the new governor said that he will seek to turn Basra into Iraq’s economic capital and to attract investors after 30 years of marginalization. “The new government will spare no effort to provide citizens with best services despite the fewness of the financial allocations,” he added.
