PM to call for releasing Iraqi prisoners in UK – minister
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki will call for releasing Iraqi detainees in British jails during his forthcoming visit to the United Kingdom to attend a conference on investment, Iraq’s minister of displacement & migration said on Thursday. “Some Iraqis are jailed in Britain for entering the country illegally but the British government has not released them although they served their terms there,” Abdulsamad Rahman Sultan told IraqiNews.com news agency. Sultan did not say how many Iraqis are imprisoned in Britain but said it is “a large number,” adding there are 1,000 Iraqis jailed in Saudi Arabia, 250 in Moscow, 80 in Lebanon, 30 in Italy and 14 in Denmark.
