7 AQI gunmen captured in Samarra

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: Security forces arrested seven gunmen believed to be members of the Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) network in an operation conducted west of the city of Samarra on Thursday, according a source from the Samarra Operations Command. “An SOC force captured the seven gunmen in the area of al-Jallam, west of Samarra, where several arms and munitions were also seized,” Col. Ismail Khalaf Jassem told IraqiNews.com news agency. Samarra, a city in Salah al-Din province, lies 120 km north of Baghdad. “The operation was carried out based on intelligence tip-offs received by the SOC on the gunmen’s whereabouts,” added Jassem, not giving further details.
