6 AQI leaders nabbed in Falluja
ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Six al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) leaders have been arrested in different parts of Falluja city, a local police source said on Tuesday. “This morning, a joint force captured six AQI leaders in different areas and villages of Falluja city,” Maj. Saab Khalaf told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Those arrested are accused of killing civilians, implanting explosive devices and targeting security forces. They are also believed to have been behind the recent acts of violence in the city,” the major indicated. Falluja was a scene of armed conflict between U.S. and Iraqi forces on the one hand and al-Qaeda gunmen on the other. Falluja, the largest city in Anbar, lies 45 km west of Baghdad; while Ramadi, the capital of the province, lies 110 km west of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
