URGENT: US military announces the use of Apache helicopters to bomb ISIS in Iraq for the first time

(IraqiNews.com) The American Army announced that Apache helicopters have been used against ISIS targets for the first time in Iraq since the US-lead coalition against ISIS began its military campaign.

The Central Command of the American forces said in a statement that “a group of fighter jets, drones and Apache helicopters launched four raids in Fallujah, Hit and Sinjar.”

The statement noted that “the air strikes targeted 3 gatherings of ISIS fighters in the northeast of Fallujah,” indicating that “coalition aircraft destroyed 2 Hummer vehicles belonging to ISIS in southeast the city of Hit and other in the north-eastern of Sinjar.”

An official at the Pentagon said that “the use of Apache helicopters came to support the military operations of the Iraqi forces in Fallujah.”
