Iraqi forces must take the lead in fighting ISIS on the ground says British FM

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Monday the British Foreign Minister Philip Hammond said that Iraqi forces must take the lead in fighting ISIS on the ground.

In a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim al-Jaafari “To beat ISIS, it is the Iraqi people, the Iraqi security forces and the Iraqi government that will have to take the lead on the ground.” He said.

Hammond claimed, that British troops on the ground will serve ISIS goals and will lead to more extremism. But he also added, that Britain will provide Iraqi forces with an air cover and intelligence.
