Director of British American Tobacco in Iraq kidnapped

(IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, a source from Baghdad announced the kidnapping of the British American Tobacco’s branch manager in Iraq by an armed group a few days ago, asserting that the company closed all its offices across the country after the incident.

The source explained that “the company received numerous threats to liquidate its employees if it did not hand them large amounts of money,” pointing out that “these threats and kidnappings affected many employees of the company, especially the foreign ones.”

It is noteworthy that the British American Tobacco is one of the largest global cigarettes company, with an American – British collaboration. It is listed in the London market with a market capitalization exceeding $100 billion and it is famous for its varieties of cigarettes such as Dunhill and Lucky Strike.
