10 wanted men captured in Diala

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: Security forces in Diala arrested 10 wanted men and seized arms and munitions in different areas of the province on Sunday, Diala’s police chief said. “Combined Iraqi forces of the army and police conducted today (May 17) a security crackdown as part of Operation Bashaer al-Kheir (Promise of Good) II in several areas of Diala, arresting 10 wanted members of Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) network,” Maj. General Abdulhussein al-Shimari told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The operation also resulted in the seizure of 21 Kalashnikov assault rifles and two stolen motorbikes,” Shimari said, adding the raiding force also defused an improvised explosive device (IED). Bashaer al-Kheir I was launched at the end of July 2008 while the second one started in April 2009. The province of Diala lies 57 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P)/SR 1
