Joint Iraqi force arrests Baghdadi’s brother

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: A joint Iraqi force on Tuesday captured the brother of the leader of the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq’, who is currently arrested by Iraqi forces, according to a local police chief. “During an early hour on Tuesday morning, a joint force from Diala’s intelligence department and the emergency personnel raided an al-Qaeda-in-Iraq (AQI) hideout in Jalawlaa district and arrested Zaydan Abd Ahmed al-Majmaie, the brother of Abu Omar al-Baghdadi,” Staff Maj. Gen. Abdulhussein al-Shamri told IraqiNews.com news agency. According to a spokesperson for Baghdad’s Operations Command (BOC), Maj. Gen. Qassim Atta, Baghdadi was arrested on April 23, 2009. The self-styled ‘Islamic State of Iraq’ is an armed organization that was set up in 2006. Most prominent of its groups is al-Qaeda in Iraq, led by al-Baghdadi. SS (P) 1
