200 Yazidi saved from ISIS, some for ransom says Kurdistan Regional Government

(IraqiNews.com) On Monday, Kurdistan Regional Government announced that 200 Yazidi, including 130 girls, were saved from the grip of the terrorist organization ISIS, indicating that the rescue implemented by paying ransoms and by some of the tribesmen themselves.

The representative of the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Dohuk, Nuri Osman said in an interview for IraqiNews.com that, “200 Yazidi people have been rescued from the grip of ISIS. The latter had kidnapped them in the district of Sinjar, west of Mosul,” noting that, “130 girls were among the rescued, the rest were children and elderly.”

Osman added, “some were rescued thanks to intermediaries of tribal figures; ransoms were paid for the salvation of others,” pointing out that, “the Kurdistan government is taking steps toward documenting the Sinjar crisis.”
