New dam in Anbar

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Water Resources Ministry said it embarked on building a new dam in the province of al-Anbar at a cost of 5.9 billion Iraqi dinars ($5.1 million), according to a Ministry press release on Sunday. “The dam, 150 km northwest of al-Rutba, will reserve rain and torrent waters, feed subterranean water and also for agricultural purposes,” read the release as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The 12.4-meter-high dam’s water level is 556 meters with a storage capacity of 7.75 million cubic meters,” it added.
