UN chief welcomes agreement on resolving budget disputes between CG, Kurdistan RegionG

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon on Thursday welcomed the agreement struck between Iraq’s central government and the semi-autonomous Kurdish region over resolving the budget dispute on oil exports.The government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government on Thursday reached an agreement that will resume budget transfers to the Kurdish region which were cut nine months ago due to an oil dispute.In a statement on this issue, Ban congratulated the federal and regional authorities for the willingness to negotiate and conclude agreements, saying the agreement is “in the interest of Iraqi people.”He also encouraged the two parties to build on this “important first step” and to solve all remaining outstanding issues within the framework of the constitution./End/
