Iraq is serious about attracting investment – minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq is “serious” about attracting investment and has a “genuine wish” to preserve the flow of more investments, an Iraqi official said on Sunday. “The investment policy would enhance a self-dependent national economic growth and the only way to have this is only through the rule of law, which would guarantee refreshed investments,” Safaaeddin al-Safi, the Iraqi Minister of State for Parliament Affairs, said during the conference on legal framework of investment, held today (May 17) in Baghdad. The event, held by Safi’s ministry under the auspices of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, was attended by a host of officials and members of parliament. “The conference seeks the deliberation of official queries by investors whether pertaining to the law on investment or to other laws,” the Iraqi minister added.
