Iraq, Egypt sign oil agreement

  BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq and Egypt signed an oil cooperation agreement, the Egyptian Oil Minister Samih Fahmi revealed on Wednesday. “The coming period will witness the activation of an initiative that was signed today by the two countries,” Fahmi said in a combined press conference in Baghdad with his Iraqi counterpart Hussein al-Shahrestani. “We are interested in Egyptian firms’ participation in Iraq’s economic development,” he said. “All the plans presented by the two countries will be doable,” he added. For his part, al-Sharestani said, “We decided to cooperate with Egyptian firms in the fields of power, oil, and gas.” “Cooperation with Egypt will be to develop oil wells and to improve production,” he explained.
