International organizations to boost Iraq’s five-year plan

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Deputy Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Thomas R. Delaney, on Thursday said that his agency will support the Iraqi five-year economic plan. “We will provide support and advice to Iraqi ministries…We have a group of advisors who will coordinate between the U.S. agency and the Iraqi ministries,” Delaney told IraqiNews.com news agency on the sidelines of a conference held in the capital Baghdad to discuss the medium-term plan. On Wednesday (May 20), Baghdad hosted a conference to discuss a medium-term plan from 2010-2014 that aims to boost development projects in the country. “The United Nations and the World Bank will also boost the plan to achieve the desired targets…,” Delaney added. The USAID has invested nearly $6 billion U.S. dollars in community programs in Iraq since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion. SS (P)/SR 1
