Civilian killed, 3 army personnel wounded in Kirkuk attacks

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: One civilian on Tuesday was killed and three Iraqi army personnel were wounded in two separate attacks in Kirkuk city, according to a local police source. “During an early hour on Tuesday morning, unknown gunmen shot down a taxi driver in front of his house in al-Orouba neighborhood, southern Kirkuk,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Meanwhile, an improvised explosive device (IED) went off near a vehicle belonging to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense near a cotton gin on a main road in southern Kirkuk, wounding three army personnel, including two officers and one soldier,” Col. Ghazi Ali, a police chief in al-Muqdad police, said. Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P) 1
