U.S. soldier killed in Ninewa
NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: One U.S. soldier was killed on Friday when a roadside bomb went off near his patrol in Ninewa province, according to a U.S. army a release, raising the number of U.S. servicemen killed in Iraq this month to 22. “A Coalition Soldier was killed when a bomb exploded near patrol in Ninewa province on Friday (May 29),” read the release as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. It did not give further details. Of the twenty-two U.S. troops killed this month, five had been shot down by a fellow soldier inside a camp near the Baghdad International Airport on May 11. The death also brings to 4,303 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003. A total of 486 U.S. troops were killed in 2003, 849 in 2004, 846 troops in 2005 and 822 soldiers in 2006. However, 2007 remains the year that saw the highest U.S. death toll with 904.
