Parliament adjourns session until May 12

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Parliament on Monday adjourned its session until next May 12 to complete the amendments of the comprehensive partnership with Turkey bill, a lawmaker said. “Speaker Iyad al-Samarraie on Monday (May 4) adjourned the parliament’s session until Tuesday (May 12) after a meeting held between the agriculture, water and legal committees to reach an agreement on the comprehensive partnership with Turkey as the agriculture committee refused to approve the draft law as it is not including an article which will determine I raq’s share of the water that originates in Turkey ,” MP Rasheed al-Azawi told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The speaker decided to adjourn the session after the committees agreed to hold meetings this week to reach the necessary amendment of the bill before voting on it,” he explained. The comprehensive agreement, which was signed by Iraq and Turkey, will contribute, in case it was approved, in increasing the trade and investment exchange between the two countries to more than $20 billion, according to Iraqi economists.
