Two helicopters transporting gunmen land near Baquba, Security Committee demands investigation

(IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, the Security Committee in the Diyala Provincial Council revealed, that two helicopters transferring gunmen have landed northeast of Baquba, urging Commander of the Armed Forces Haider Abadi to immediately investigate the event.

Committee Chairman Sadiq al-Husseini said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “We have information and witnesses who assert that two helicopters landed yesterday evening; they were transporting dozens of gunmen to Syed Mubarak village in Hamrin area (50 km north east of Baquba).”

Husseini demanded the Commander of the Armed Forces, Haider al-Abadi to “open an extended investigation into the incident,” stressing “the importance of identifying the helicopters.”

“There are schemes designed to undermine the security and stability of Diyala after it was liberated from ISIS,” he added.
