National Guards will not include Kurdistan, says Peshmerga SG
(IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Peshmerga announced Wednesday, that the formation of the National Guards will not include the Kurdistan region because the region possesses its own protection troops.
The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Peshmerga, Lt-Gen. Jabar al-Yawer, stated in a press conference attended by IraqiNews, “The formation of the National Guards will not include the Kurdistan region as it has its own forces according to the Iraqi constitution.”
“The decision to unify the Peshmerga forces will be implemented, but the financial crisis in the region as well as the war against ISIS have hampered the complete unification of forces in operations,” he added.
