PUK discusses slate for Kurdistan parliamentary polls

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The political bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) on Saturday met in Sulaimaniya province to discuss its slate of candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq’s Kurdistan region. “A specialized committee has been set up to settle the issue,” an official spokesperson for the bureau, Mulla Bakhtyar, said in a statement published on the web site of the union. On May 5, Kurdistan President Massoud al-Barazani set July 25 as the date for parliamentary elections in the region. Forty-two political blocs will participate in the elections. SS (P) 1
