Signatures collected to withdraw confidence from trade minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The chairman of the parliamentary integrity commission said he has collected signatures of 50 parliamentarians to withdraw confidence from the Iraqi minister of trade in light of corruption charges. “During today’s session, we will submit a request signed by 50 members to withdraw confidence from the minister of trade,” MP Sabah al-Saedi, who is also a member of the Fadila Bloc, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “This is the number required to withdraw confidence,” Saedi noted. During its last two sessions, the Iraqi Council of Representatives questioned Minister Abdulfalah al-Sudani on charges of administrative and financial corruption. “If a quorum is obtained (138 members), a simple majority vote will be required to withdraw confidence from the minister,” Saedi explained.
