Security forces regain Baghdadi, ISIS elements mass to launch new attacks
(IraqiNews.com) Anbar Provincial Council announced on Saturday, that the security forces, tribesmen and volunteer fighters (al-Hashd al-Sha’bi forces) managed to regain control over Baghdadi area west of Ramadi, except for some parts, while warned that the ISIS militants are massing for new attacks.
Member of the council Taha Abdul Ghani said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “The security situation in Baghdadi (90 km west of Ramadi) is now entirely under control thanks to the security forces, volunteer fighters and tribesmen entirely, with the exception of some parts where ISIS snipers still exist.”
Taha added, “Full control over Baghdadi will happen in the coming hours,” while at the same time warned that, “ISIS is trying to launch new attacks on the district.”
Abdul Ghani accused the government of “lack of seriousness in arming the tribesmen,” and stressed the need for a real intervention and intelligence effort by the government.
The security assistant to Anbar’s governor, Aziz Khalaf Trmoz announced earlier on Saturday that the security forces regained control over Baghdadi west of Ramadi, noting that dozens of ISIS elements had been killed.
