Dhi Qar Council votes on dismissal of governor
(IraqiNews.com) On Thursday, the Council of Dhi Qar province voted on the dismissal of governor Yahya al-Nasiri from his post, after he was accused of “wasting public money” and other financial and administrative corruption crimes.
A member of al-Mostaqbal Alliance in the Council of Dhi Qar, Zia Al-Hajimi said in an interview for IraqiNews, “22 members of the Council of Dhi Qar, representing al-Mostaqbal Alliance, and other two independent members voted, during a meeting held today, on the dismissal of governor Yahya al-Nasiri,” noting that, “The governor failed to attend the hearing.”
Al-Hajimi added, “The governor is accused of financial and administrative corruption crimes, including wasting public money, as well as failure to attend the interrogation sessions held in the provincial council,” noting that, “Al-Nasiri will stay as a governor until another is elected.”
