Massive operation to liberate Tikrit from ISIS begins

(IraqiNews.com) A security source in Salahuddin province announced Tuesday, that Tikrit is witnessing large military gatherings preparing for a massive operation to liberate the city from the ISIS group control, noting that ISIS sites have been bombed with mortars and artillery.

The source informed IraqiNews.com, “There are large military gatherings and preparations in Tikrit to begin a major operation to liberate the city,” adding that, “Volunteer fighters forces have arrived to support in the operation.”

“Tikrit has also witnessed bombings with mortars and artillery targeting the ISIS sites in the city. The size of losses within the ISIS ranks is yet to be known,” it added.
