Talabani meets Turkish official on bilateral ties

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani received in Baghdad Wednesday the special Turkish envoy to Iraq, Murad Ozcelik, with whom he discussed bilateral ties and the importance of setting up strategic relations between the two countries. “Talabani expressed Iraq’s desire to foster cooperation with Turkey, stressing the importance of exerting efforts to set up strategic relations for the good of the two people,” said a presidential statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. For his part, the Turkish envoy reiterated his country’s support to the political process and the democratic operation in Iraq, asserting his government’s keenness to support the national reconciliation in the country.
