Talabani visits Hakim in Tehran hospital
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal al-Talabani on Sunday visited the head of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC), Abdulaziz al-Hakeem, who is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Tehran, and discussed with him the recent developments on the political and security scenes. Talabani has paid an unofficial visit to Tehran to “inquire after the health of the head of the SIIC and the United Iraqi Alliance (UIA) bloc in the Parliament, following a similar visit by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki last week,” the official Iranian news agency (IRNA) said. Yesterday (June 6), Talabani arrived in the Iranian capital and was received by a host of senior Iranian officials at the Mehrabad International Airport, according to a presidential statement. Late last month, Maliki paid a one-day visit to the Iranian capital to inquire after Hakim’s health. SS (P) 1
